Hort 231 & Hort 232 - Citation Information

You must list all of the reference materials (books, articles, catalogs, web sites) that you use when preparing assignments for this class. Citations give credit to the authors whose work you are using and allow the reader to find more information on the subject. Proper citing ensures that you are not accused of plagiarism. When you use references, you should not copy directly out of the material, unless you are using quotation marks. You should understand the information in the reference, and then write your assignments in your own words.

When citing reference material that you use in this course, cite it correctly and completely. This helps clearly communicate what reference you have used, in case someone wants to read the original source. If you forget something, such as the date, the reader might select the wrong edition of a book, and get different information than you found.

It helps us in grading if everyone uses the same format. In this class, use the following formats for citing all references. These are the formats used in such journals as HortScience.

NOTE: Use authors’ complete names as they are listed in the reference material.
