You have been asked to recommend an evergreen conifer for planting as a focal point in Spruce Park in a town near Pullman, WA. The feature plant will be planted next to the two-story information center. The town wants to plant a species of conifer that is not already present in the Park. They already have each of the species on your Plant Lists # 1, 2, and 3. a) Select a plant to
recommend. Plant selection references are helpful for
selecting plants, because they organize plants in a format that makes
it easy to find plants based on features, such as growing requirements
or appearance. There are many useful selection references in the
Reference section of the Fischer Ag-Sci Library. b) Find detailed information about the plant you selected. Use your textbooks and at least 3 additional references that discuss your selected plant. At least one of your references must be from the Reference or Reserve sections of the Fischer Ag-Sci Library (put a star next to this one). Make a complete list of all references you used. Use the format on the class handout: Citation Information. c) On a separate sheet, type a business letter to the town council explaining why you have selected this plant. Convince the town council that you have found the perfect plant for them. Correctly list the complete scientific and common names. Be sure to explain the function of the plant, its aesthetic features, it growing requirements, and anything else to demonstrate the virtues of your selection.
